Culture4Wellbeing

Culture4Wellbeing – International Teacher Resilience through STEAM, Creativity and AI,

Women Science Teachers (WST), led by ENOVA Training Consultancy, is implementing an international Open Pilot within the CultureForHealth initiative to explore new approaches to teacher wellbeing and professional resilience.

The pilot brings together science and mathematics teachers from Türkiye, Greece, Romania, Colombia, India and Cameroon. It approaches teacher wellbeing not simply as a response to stress or burnout, but as an active and lifelong learning process that can be strengthened through reflection, creativity and international collaboration.

Using the CYANOTYPES Competence Framework as a reflective guide, participating teachers explore their values, motivations and professional identities. They then transform these reflections into individual “creative pathways” connecting personal wellbeing with classroom practice.

The programme focuses particularly on the following competences:

  • Self-awareness and empathy

  • Working with values

  • Conceptual and critical thinking

  • Boundary spanning and interdisciplinary collaboration

  • Creative use of digital technologies

Through online workshops, reflective journals, self-assessment activities and international peer exchange, participants develop interdisciplinary learning activities combining STEAM education, creativity, cultural perspectives and AI-supported learning.

The pilot aims to help teachers:

  • Strengthen their personal and professional resilience

  • Develop deeper self-awareness and reflective practices

  • Build confidence in connecting wellbeing with their professional roles

  • Design creative and engaging interdisciplinary learning experiences

  • Exchange knowledge and experiences across different cultural and educational contexts

The project also investigates how a shared, competence-based understanding of wellbeing can strengthen international cooperation among educators. Its findings may contribute to future policy discussions by demonstrating that teacher wellbeing should be integrated into professional learning frameworks and recognised as an essential component of resilient education systems.

By bringing together wellbeing, culture, creativity, STEAM and digital innovation, Women Science Teachers aims to develop a sustainable model that supports both teachers’ personal growth and the quality of learning experiences they create for their students.

Overview

Culture4Wellbeing™ is an innovative teacher wellbeing and professional development programme designed to improve educators’ wellbeing, resilience, creativity, collaboration and classroom engagement by using cultural heritage as a practical learning and wellbeing tool.

Unlike traditional teacher wellbeing initiatives that focus mainly on stress management, this framework enables teachers to reconnect with their personal values, professional identity and creativity through cultural exploration, collaborative learning and AI-supported reflection.

The programme combines positive psychology, cultural heritage, experiential learning, creativity, peer collaboration and artificial intelligence within a measurable teacher wellbeing model. Teachers can also transform their experiences into creative, interdisciplinary classroom activities that support both their own wellbeing and their students’ learning.

The C.A.R.E  Framework

C – Connect

Teachers select a cultural heritage element that personally or professionally inspires them. This may include traditional arts, music, architecture, local history, crafts, cuisine, literature, nature, rituals or cultural practices from any country.

Purpose: To establish an emotional connection, strengthen professional motivation and help teachers rediscover meaning in their work.

A – Appreciate

Teachers explore the history, values and significance of their chosen cultural element through short weekly learning activities, digital resources, peer discussions and AI-supported recommendations. They also consider how it could be connected to their subject area and classroom practice.

Purpose: To develop curiosity, mindfulness, intercultural awareness and interdisciplinary thinking.

R – Reflect

Teachers reflect on how cultural experiences affect their emotions, stress levels, creativity, resilience and professional life. Reflection is supported through personal journals, guided questions, peer dialogue and AI-assisted coaching.

Purpose: To increase self-awareness, emotional resilience and professional wellbeing while helping teachers recognise their strengths and needs.

E – Express

Teachers transform their experiences into creative outputs such as classroom activities, lesson plans, storytelling, photography, digital art, presentations, music, videos, crafts or AI-assisted projects. They share their work with colleagues through collaborative sessions and may adapt it for use with students.

Purpose: To strengthen creativity, communication, professional belonging, peer collaboration and engagement in teaching.
